Holiday how-to: stuffed shells

Junior Madison Latona loves to bake with her family, especially around the holiday season. Latona believes that cooking is a great way to bond with others. Stuffed shells are one of Latona’s favorite dishes and is a dish her family makes traditionally.

What you’ll need:

• 1 casserole dish

• 1 pack of ground beef

• Your choice of seasoning

• 4 cups mozzarella cheese

• 4 cups ricotta cheese

• 2/3 cups rice

• 1 large jar of Prego tomato sauce (enough to fill the casserole pan)

• About 24 giant pasta shells

What to do:

1. Season the ground beef to your preference, and cook all the way through. Set aside when complete.

2. Cook the rice.

3. Mix the ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, rice and beef together. Make sure that the mixture is consistent.

4. Boil the pasta shells and set aside when complete.

5. Spoon the beef mixture into each shell, making sure not to break the shells. (Optional: fill a pastry bag with the beef mixture to fill the shells.)

6. Continue to fill the shells until there is no beef mixture left over.

7. Lay the shells in the casserole dish.

8. Cover all of the shells in tomato sauce and season to your preference.

9. Bake for one hour.

10. Serve and enjoy!
