The Blood Drive at Glenbrook North is scheduled to take place on Nov. 19 in the CPA lobby from 7:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Jennifer Laudadio, sponsor of Interact, a service club at GBN that runs the Blood Drive, said donating blood is an easy and free way to give back to the community.

“Every donation saves three lives, which is a huge deal,” Mikayla Franzese, one of Interact’s presidents, said.

Students must be at least 16 years old, and those who are 17 or older do not need a parent’s signature to donate. According to Franzese, more information and permission slips for students who wish to participate will be available Nov. 16 to Nov. 18 in the ticket booth.

Franzese said her experience donating blood was “awesome,” and she encourages other students to donate. She said Lifesource, the organization that heads the Blood Drive, does a good job of making the students feel comfortable.

“At first, I was nervous to do it,” said Franzese. “But once I actually did and was there, they were really nice. They were helpful and gave food after.”

Laudadio said,“It’s easy. We bring it to you. It’s one way that students can contribute and learn a little about [giving] to the community.”
