Point of Fact

  • The Glenbrooks Debate Tournament is planned for Nov. 9 – 19. According to coach Michael Greenstein, this is the largest high school debate competition in the country by entry. Debaters from around the country are scheduled to compete at Glenbrook North, Glenbrook South, Maple Junior High and Northbrook Junior High.
  • Auditions for the 2013 Variety Show, “Storytellers” are scheduled for Monday, Nov. 5 in the CPA. Coordinator Diane DeRosa-Reynolds  said interested students should submit an audition form and sign up for an audition slot in the Student Activity Office, SAO, starting Oct. 29.
  • The Glenbrook United  White volleyball team earned gold in its division on  Sept. 23, giving the team the opportunity to advance to the state competition planned for Oct. 26 – 27 at Harlem High School.
  • The Community  Halloween Party is planned for Oct. 31 from 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. in the A-wing classrooms. Key Club sponsors this annual event where children from preschool to fifth grade are invited with parental supervision to “trick-or-treat” from room to room. Class boards and various clubs are planning on setting up games for children to come play in each room.
  • The Torch has been recognized as an All-American newspaper by the National Scholastic Press Association for the third consecutive year. The  2011 – 2012 Torch staff, under Editor-in-Chief Stella Tu and Managing Editor Alex Bond, was described in the judge’s final comments with praise for their “great writing, strong leadership and beautiful graphic elements.”
