Students hold chance to recognize teachers
As a way of recognizing outstanding work done throughout the year, students are able to nominate their teachers for the Distinguished Teacher Award. Nomination essays are expected to be submitted through Google Classroom between Feb. 16 and April 5. An email with guidelines and details is scheduled to be sent to students on Feb. 16.
According to Cindie Kozeluh, administrative assistant to Ryan Bretag, associate principal for curriculum and instruction, the recipient is chosen after essays are read anonymously by the Parents’ Association Distinguished Teacher Committee and Bretag.
The Distinguished Teacher Award is scheduled to be presented May 27 during the Senior Awards Assembly in the CPA.
“It’s really important to nominate [teachers] because [they] take time to know their students and develop a bond with them,” said sophomore Sophie Dimoff. “Getting to nominate shows how much you really appreciate them, and it gives [teachers] that extra boost to help other kids.”
