Annual traveling show performs holiday acts
A troupe comprised of singers, dancers and actors dressed as elves is scheduled to perform in Glenbrook North’s annual Traveling Show on Dec. 19. The group plans to be performing an array of holiday songs, dances and skits for audiences at four nursing homes and retirement facilities in Northbrook and Glenview.
The Traveling Show is scheduled to travel to four locations, including Rosewood Care Center, Abington of Glenview, Brookdale and Vi at the Glen. Along with their performances, students have the opportunity to interact with their audiences at the homes.
Senior Margo Weissman, a dancer in last year’s troupe, said she performed a dance choreographed by the senior Poms members. Weissman said she enjoyed dancing in the show and being able to talk to the people watching at the senior homes because it made the audiences very happy.
Theater director Julie Ann Hill, who is in charge of the show’s acting portion, said one of her favorite parts of the show is the skits that the actors perform. The skits are holiday-themed and have included characters like the Grinch, Santa Claus, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Hanukkah Harry in the past.
Hill said she can see why people might think the show is unnecessary, but she thinks that it is a great way for students to be able to do something different.
