Girls swim, dive
The girls swimming and diving team went 8-1 and tied for second in the Central Suburban League South Division in regular season conference meets. The team finished in third at the conference meet, and sectionals are scheduled to take place on Saturday.
With a score of 120-65, the team beat Glenbrook South in a meet on Sept. 30.
The team’s depth sets it apart from other teams, freshman Sienna Wilson said.
According to head coach Jarod Schroeder, junior Rachel Kravstov and senior Vici Grzesiuk have been consistent throughout the season, so they can be relied on to perform well each meet.
Kravstov swam the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:00.6 in a meet against Maine South on Oct. 7.
Senior Sydney Flaum had to take on a new leadership role this season because, in some meets, Flaum was the only diver competing as other divers were out with injuries, Flaum said.
According to Schroeder, the team has been pleasantly surprised with its performances this year.
“That has been my favorite part of [the season],” said Schroeder.“Having low expectations and then [beyond] exceeding them has been awesome.”
