Divison 1 Athletes – 2022-2023

These six senior athletes have competed on Glenbrook North sports teams and have signed letters of intent to continue their athletic careers in college at the Division I level. Responses have been edited for length and clarity.

Jason Gordon- University of Michigan, Men’s golf

Why he chose Michigan: Both coaches are amazing and played at the University of Illinois which is known for its really good program. I am also hoping to grow the team and have a big impact freshman year.

Favorite golf club: My putter. Putting wins golf tournaments.

Eli Myers- Lafayette College, Men’s Golf

What he is most looking forward to next year: The evolution from high school golf to collegiate golf, traveling with the team and competing against other Division I athletes.

Best round of golf at Glenbrook North: In the first tournament of the year, I shot a 66 at Heritage Oaks Golf Club.

Michael Glowacki- Purdue University, Cheerleading

Why he chose Purdue: I was looking into cheer at the collegiate level when I was applying to schools. I knew I wanted to go into engineering, and Purdue is a good school for engineering.

Favorite high school athletics memory: Going to state and getting to spend the weekend with my team.

Gabe Johnson- Wagner College, Men’s waterpolo, swim

Favorite high school athletics memory: Competing at a high level during the state meet with the swim team this year. It was really nice to be a part of that team and swim fast times with guys I have been swimming with since I was eight years old.

Favorite swimming event: 200 Individual Medley, which is eight laps total, two of each stroke.

Robby O’Regan- Penn State University, Men’s golf

Why he chose Penn State: When I was going through the recruiting process and weighing out all of my options with the campus, the school, how far it is from home, the coaches and the team, it was the easiest option to choose because everything was laid out very well.

Favorite golf club: My eight iron, just because I always know what is going to happen with it.

Patrick Mahoney- University of Illinois, Football

Why he chose Illinois: My other offers or schools I was talking to were not the biggest schools, but once University of Illinois gave me an offer, I committed right away because it’s my state school and has a good football program.

Favorite high school football game: My favorite game was beating Glenbrook South in overtime my sophomore year.
