Boys tennis

The boys tennis team has a record of 9-2 and a conference record of 4-1 as of May 11.

All players on the team wontheir matches against Lane Tech, a team in its sectional, on April 12.

“[The top two singles and top two double spots] are the ones that play in the sectional, so that will help us with our seeding,” head coach Jeff Jordan said.

The team placed first at the Harlem invite, beating out seven other teams on April 8.

“We won every flight and swept the tournament,” said Jordan. “Everybody got medals, and we got a trophy.”

Two of the team’s top players, junior Konrad Kwiatkowski and sophomore Max Manoshin, did not play, so other players were given opportunities to play in this tournament, Jordan said.

Kwiatkowski has been on varsity since he was a freshman, and he has a goal of finishing in the top four in state this year.

Kwiatkowski hopes the team can finish top eight in state this year, as the team did last year, Kwiatowski said.

According to Jordan, the team has potential to win the sectional.

“[Glenbrook] South’s a little bit better than they were last year, so [winning the sectional] will be tough,” said Jordan. “But definitely doable if we perform.”
