Events have become a staple for Northbrook throughout its 125 years of being a town. The town offers gatherings for the community year-round, including annual traditions such as Northbrook Days, Tuesdays in the Park, Shermerfest and Illuminate Northbrook. Bring your friends and family to take a stroll through some of our village’s events.
Shermerfest
Shermerfest is a summer event organized by the Northbrook Historical Society that honors Northbrook history because Shermerville was the original name of Northbrook. Entertainment at Shermerfest includes a vintage car show, a live cow, a raffle, a popcorn truck and a fundraiser featuring a rubber duck race.
Northbrook Days
The first Northbrook Days took place in 1925. The carnival is hosted by the Northbrook Civic Foundation to raise funds for college scholarships for Glenbrook North students. The event is scheduled to take place at the Metra lot at 1401 Shermer Road next summer.
Tuesdays in the Park
Tuesdays in the Park is a free community concert series for all ages. The event takes place every Tuesday over the course of the summer at Village Green Park and offers a variety of music styles.
Illuminate Northbrook
Illuminate Northbrook celebrates the season by illuminating the holiday light fixtures at Village Green Park and offering hot chocolate. The event is scheduled to take place on Nov. 20. The Rotary Club of Northbrook holds its annual “Coat Off Your Back” drive to collect winter coats for charity during the event.
