Recent Torch triumphs

Torch has earned national recognition in several aspects of journalism. The National Scholastic Press Association, also known as the NSPA, has awarded Torch and its staff the following distinctions over the past three years.

2023-24 school year:

  • Senior Jaden Cho placed fifth nationally in the Editorial Cartoon of the Year category.
  • Torch was recognized as an All-American newspaper by the NSPA.

2022-23 school year:

  • Alumni Ellie Erlich (‘24), Emma Hirsch (‘24), Rana Khan (‘24) and Alyssa Sanchez (‘23) placed first in the country in the National Design Award category.

2021-22 school year:

  • Alumni Chase Goldstein (‘23) and Sari Goldberg (‘22) placed fifth in the nation in the News Story of the Year category.
  • Alumni Alyssa Sanchez (‘23) and Baeyoung Yoo (‘22)  placed in the top 10 nationally in the Editorial Cartoon of the Year category.
  • Torch was recognized as an All-American newspaper by the NSPA.
