School uses reserved snow day

School is set to be in session on Monday, February 18, a reserved snow day, due to a snowstorm that caused the cancellation of school on Nov. 26, 2018. The school day is scheduled to be a B day, which means there will be two B days in a row.

Ed Solis, associate principal for curriculum and instruction, said feedback from instructional supervisors in each department was used to determine which block day was going to be added to the 2018-2019 calendar. The decision to add a B day to the 2018-2019 calendar was made to keep quizzes, projects and homework balanced for the yearlong B day classes because these classes are behind.

“Certainly a semester class will have an extra day if it lands on the B day,” said Solis. “But, [the] majority of our classes are year-long classes, and that’s what we are taking into account.”

Solis said there should not be much conflict for students who participate in extracurricular activities because there were no after-school activities planned on the Monday.
