Light shows in the area

With the holiday season in full swing, light shows provide opportunities to embrace the spirit and spend time with loved ones, whether it be walking through an illuminated garden or driving through a colorful light tunnel. Below are four holiday light shows to consider visiting this season.

 

Northbrook Court’s Let It Shine

1515 Lake Cook Road, Northbrook

This drive-thru holiday light show experience includes bright, flashing lights, which are synchronized to holiday music on a radio station that cars can listen to during the show. Let It Shine is located on the southwest side of the mall and is scheduled to stay open until Jan. 9. 

 

Willow Hill’s Winter Magic

1450 Willow Road, Northbrook

This one-mile drive-thru light show features colorful displays of Christmas characters, Christmas trees and a light tunnel. Cars can tune in to a holiday music radio station during the show. Winter Magic takes approximately 15 minutes to drive through and is scheduled to stay open until Jan. 2. 

 

Lincoln Park Zoo’s ZooLights

2200 N. Cannon Drive, Chicago

Throughout the Lincoln Park Zoo, LED light displays cover the grounds for a spirited holiday event. Additional ticketed experiences, including the Light Maze and the Enchanted Forest, a fairy-tale land brought to life, are also offered. ZooLights is scheduled to stay open until Jan. 2 and be closed on Dec. 24 and 25. The Zoo is scheduled to close during the hours of ZooLights, and all tickets to the event must be reserved in advance. 

 

The Morton Arboretum’s Illumination: Tree Lights

4100 IL-53, Lisle

This one-mile paved walking path features 50 acres of the Arboretum’s trees brightened by different lighting effects, accompanied by music and food concession tents. Illumination: Tree Lights is scheduled to be open until Jan. 2 and be closed on Dec. 24 and 25.
