Ten weeks ago, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison soccer camp, junior Morgan Adducci broke her fibula and had a high ankle sprain that  has cost her the majority of the season.

She said she regrets her attempt to block a shot during a scrimmage and she feels frustrated and mad about having to start the season on the sideline.

Head Coach Craig Loch said the team is lacking speed without Adducci on the field.

Adducci started rehab after spring break. She has been working on getting muscle back in her calf and the full range of motion back in her ankle.

The process of regaining her full range of motion is predicted to take around a month. Until then, Adducci said she has been trying to help the team on the sideline by acting like a leader and giving teammates advice.

“She has a real knowledge of the game and she is showing that, even though she can’t be playing,” Loch said.

With no seniors on the team and seven juniors, Loch said the soccer team is young.

Adducci said she misses having older girls on the team to look up to, but it has been fun leading the underclassmen.

The team is counting on its new players to learn quickly and race to attempt to fill in the missing shoes of Adducci.
