Girls volleyball

The girls volleyball team finished this season with a record of 12-18, going 5-5 in conference. The team lost against Libertyville 2-1 in the regional semifinal.

“Overall, we came third [in] conference, and I’d say we performed really well,” head coach Tiffany Kim said.

The team has taken some tough teams to three sets and even beat some good schools due to a lot of teamwork and fight this season, Kim said.

“We played Stevenson and took them into three sets,” said Kim. “We lost the first one 25-27, we won the second one 26-24, then lost the third one 13-15.”

Senior Iliana Balaskas has a total of 344 assists, the second most assists in the Central Suburban League South Division as a setter.

Balaskas has verbally committed to the University of Rochester to play Division III volleyball.

It is really hard for the team to lose a match after winning the first set, Balaskas said.

“I think the way we treat the game is always so good, even after a loss,” said Balaskas. “Everyone is [still] happy and no one is mad at each other.”
