As March Madness approaches, brackets are starting to be made for the NCAA tournament. Let’s take a closer look at how three Glenbrook North students approach the process of creating their brackets. We will find out whose method led to ultimate success in the April issue.
The Logo Lover:
“Honestly, I just kind of pick the team based off of which logo I think is cuter, or what school I’ve heard of before. So if I’ve never heard of it, I’m probably not gonna pick it.”
– Junior Emma Firsel
The Casual Strategist:
“I look at the seeding a little bit, and then if I’m really getting into it, and I’m trying to be competitive about it, then I’ll read the little descriptions, like, wins and losses and stuff. But usually I just look at the seeding, and sometimes you go with the underdog, and sometimes you don’t, and that’s kind of it.”
– Junior Sylvia Ugarcovici
The Researcher:
“I look at each team [and] their record versus top 25 teams, because those are big games, and they’ll replicate March Madness games. And then I look at their turnovers and steals and how they match up, because if one team turns it over a lot and another team gets a lot of steals, they might upset.”
– Sophomore Nate Fridman
