Helmut’s Original Austrian Strudel
With a tender, caramelized apple filling and buttery, flaky dough, Helmut’s apple strudel will certainly be the powdered sugar-covered treat that wins you over. The strudel is served warm and can melt the heart of any Scrooge resisting the holiday cheer. While I chose the apple strudel, Helmut’s also offers apricot, cheese and cherry strudels as well. Each costs $12 and a box of two costs $20. This vendor only accepts cash payments.
Bob’s Belgian Hot Chocolate
My favorite hot chocolate at the market was Bob’s Belgian Hot Chocolate. It is made with a combination of milk and dark chocolate imported from Belgium and topped with homemade whipped cream and a smiling gingerbread cookie. I recommend purchasing this item immediately upon arriving to keep warm. The hot chocolate is $18 in a coveted souvenir mug or $10 in a disposable cup. This vendor accepts cash and card payments.
Stuffed Gourmet Pretzels
The stuffed pizza pretzel is the perfect savory treat to eat as you walk around. With a crisp, salted outside and soft inside filled with marinara sauce and melted cheese, every bite is perfect. The pizza pretzel was my favorite but this stand offers many other varieties, such as cheesecake and grilled cheese. The pizza pretzel costs $7, but prices range from $5 to $7. This vendor only accepts cash payments.
